Tinder is dated. So are other dating apps that have gained significant popularity in the last few years. As the #Twinder hashtag, which has been trending for hours on Twitter, suggests, people are now turning to old social media platforms to find their forever love. Pioneered by organizer and educator Cherrell Brown, aka Big Relly, the idea didn’t take long to attract regular users of the microblogging site. “Well, #twinder rules: post image(s) across space and what you’re looking for – a Date? housewives? Brunch buddies? winter time boo? A third? I encourage people to know if you’re absolutely hot. Add the hashtag #twinder so other contributors can find you!” Brown wrote while suggesting the idea.
“#Twinder has created dozens of friendships, relationships, some engagements and a few trips to second place! So go get your favorite selfies together and get ready to PLAY!!!” she added on Twitter about the concept of dating. While many netizens have definitely warmed to the idea and immediately tweeted their photos and personal details, some decided to play around by igniting a meme festival. From Jason Voorhees with dogeTwitterati hilariously imagined Twinder profiles of their favorite pop culture characters.
