After running a Reddit-inspired downvote test for tweet replies back in July, excitement It’s rolling out the feature to more people around the world as part of its efforts to get detailed feedback on conversations.
This option comes with a “public or not visible to the author” message, implying that Twitter will use it for research and possibly control how conversations are received.
Downvotes will not be used to rank tweets
For now, downvotes will not be used to organize speeches. Twitter is currently not changing the placement of tweets that have been rejected multiple times to make them less visible.
reddit, on the other hand, ranks responses based on upvotes and downvotes.
According to Cody Elam, Twitter’s User Researcher, this option will provide insight into how voting could be used in the future to improve conversations.
Twitter is experimenting with different buttons for the best experience
Twitter is also experimenting with different styles to implement the feature.
In one experiment, both the upvote and downvote buttons were placed below the tweet reply. In another, these are replaced by thumbs up and thumbs down buttons.
Reportedly available tests are only minus votes in the form of arrows. However, it can be said that the like button acts like a voting button.
Feature that is not original or interesting can complicate conversations
Facebook he also tried things they didn’t like, but later introduced emoji responses that conveyed a variety of emotions, such as sad, happy, and surprised, among others.
Twitter is inspired by Reddit, but does not encourage mass downvoting because it can trigger mental health issues.
This feature has already raised fears of further stifling dissent. However, it is also expected to control trolls and abusive tweets.

Soft blocking, targeted features to help improve conversations
In another attempt to encourage meaningful conversations, Twitter this month began testing anti-abuse alerts for potentially intense conversations. This feature will help people avoid heated conversations.
Another targeted feature is supposed to show prompts for users writing malicious messages, even before hitting the “Reply” button.
Recently, Twitter also has a “soft blocking” feature to remove followers without notice.
