Apple is eagerly awaitedThe event has come and gone, revealing the company’s 2021 hotline, which has been swayed by features and many incentives. Better screens? Yeah. Better cameras? Yeah. Longer battery life? There. ? Sign me up now. Actually no, I’m not done , and these carrier deals still come with lots of caveats.
But overall, it’s been a sleepy year for the company, at least in terms of the iPhone 13 series. Sure, that little notch swells and smokes holy, have you seen the dramatic videos you can shoot?? I love these features, and I can’t say I don’t feel a tingle in my skin when I watch them in action. However, aside from the routine improvements made to things like the processor and the features I mentioned earlier, there were a number of features that remained remarkably unchanged. and sizes for starters. CNET’s own It carried a headline saying that it was not radically different from the iPhone 12.
As much as I look forward to Apple’s big iPhone launch every year, I’m more excited about what I’ve seen this year.. And I’ve been a happy iPhone owner for years, so this feeling amazes me.
Google’slooks ridiculous and seems to represent a huge leap forward for Google in terms of design, performance and features. NS , but Google has little left to the imagination thanks to a series of ridicule and plenty of credible leaks and rumors. On top of that, prior to its event, Google revealed a prototype. At his new brick-and-mortar store in New York — and he’s definitely making a statement.
Pixel 6 design: Sleek and bold
Take a look at the Pixel 6 and you will see that it has undergone a comprehensive design transformation and shines. Gone are the Pixel 5’s rounded camera bumps and modest color palette. This design gives way to a camera bar that spans the entire width of the phone’s color bands splashed with shiny metal accents.
As a renowned mobile software developer, Google has previously designed its phones to allow the Android mobile operating system to take center stage. In the eyes of the user, the hardware was supposed to disappear into the background and serve Android only as a tool. But for 2021, Google seems to be eliminating that design philosophy in favor of a bolder and more glamorous look. I think the Pixel 6’s hardware is visually distinctive, and it’s clear that Google has been playing this year to stand out in the competitive arena of high-end phones.
Pixel 6 processor: Tensor SoC
But there may be more to the Pixel 6 than meets the eye. Under the hood, Google says the Pixel 6 series is equipped with a custom-built system-on-chip known as Tensor, which CEO Sundar Pichai touted as Pixel’s biggest innovation to date. It was designed in-house by Google engineers, meaning it’s made specifically for Android – much like Apple does with its own mobile processors.
Google has kept its motherhood on performance and it’s not yet clear whether Tensor will keep up with Apple’s chips, but now that it doesn’t rely on Qualcomm chipsets, I think it has a better chance. According to CNET’s performance benchmark tests for years, Qualcomm’s premium Snapdragon processors consistently underperformed against Apple’s own in-house silicon. I hope he can extending the number of years of software support With this check, you can keep a Pixel 6 for many more years with security updates. Previous Pixel phones were guaranteed three years of support; That’s significantly less than the six years of support the iPhone 6S received, or the four years Samsung now provides for Galaxy phones. Either way, it represents another “seismic break from the past,” as CNET’s Brian Bennet puts it. Note that last year’s Pixel 5 runs on the midrange Snapdragon 765G processor, which is a notch from the Snapdragon 865 built into flagship phones like the Samsung Galaxy S20 to let Google keep the price in a cap.
Pixel 6 software: Android 12
Another thing that excites me is the software. Will ship with Pixel 6, making it one of the first phones to carry the updated mobile operating system – and there’s a lot to be excited about. You’ll be able to do cool stuff like scrollable screenshots (finally!), minute-by-minute privacy dashboard, and OS customizability. But other than that, Google said the Pixel 6 series will rely heavily on AI, and the Pixel 6 could be the most AI-centric phone Google has ever made. That could translate into things like better language translation and even better computational photography for Pixel’s already excellent cameras.
Specs aside, perhaps I’m more excited about the Pixel this year because Apple has crossed the threshold where size is expected, even if it’s not guaranteed. Meanwhile, Google still has a lot to prove in the smartphone arena. Pixel’s market share is very small compared to Apple’s iPhones. Or maybe it’s the fact that the iPhone and iOS already had an overhaul with the iPhone X in 2017, and the Pixel’s transformation was delayed. But now, it looks like Google is doing what we’ve been waiting for years. We’ll have to wait until October 19 to find out for sure, but I’m hoping Google’s Pixel 6 has the potential to be the 2021 phone weight I’ve been waiting for.
